This is a little off-topic, but I kind of hate how unclear so many publications are about their rates. I've pitched prestigious-seeming magazines only to find out they paid next to nothing, and I probably wouldn't have pitched to them in the first place if I'd know their rates going in, but so many publications choose not not to clarify anywhere on their website. I wish it was considered normal for publications to be very open and clear about what they pay writers.
